Brief & JD: The Engine Field Service Technician acts as a technical Specialist and the primary customer contact for diagnosing and executing complex repairs on Cummins engines and related systems at the technical support and service for Cummins engines, generators, and power systems customer site. The role requires technical Knowledge, Effective Communication, and Customer handling skills, ensuring a high level of service quality and Customer Satisfaction.

Job Summary: 

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Railway Engineer to manage and maintain diesel generator systems (DG Sets) equipped with Cummins engines installed in railway coaches or auxiliary power units. The engineer will ensure efficient operation, scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and compliance with railway and Cummins standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and overhauling of Cummins-powered diesel generators used in railway applications.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults in DG sets, engines, alternators, and associated control systems.
  • Monitor performance parameters, log records, and provide technical reports for preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Conduct load testing, emission testing, and ensure compliance with Indian Railways and Cummins operational standards.
  • Replace, calibrate, or repair engine components (filters, injectors, belts, sensors, etc.).
  • Coordinate with vendors, Cummins service teams, and railway depot teams for timely resolution of issues.
  • Maintain inventory of critical spares and generate maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols during maintenance and testing activities.
  • Maintain and update documentation including service logs, work orders, checklists, and compliance records.
  • Participate in training sessions related to Cummins engines and railway generator systems.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma/bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering / electrical engineering / Railway Engineering or relevant field.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on experience with Cummins diesel generator sets in railway or industrial applications.
  • Familiarity with DG set control panels, wiring diagrams, and fault diagnostic tools.
  • Understanding of Indian Railways safety procedures, inspection schedules, and compliance norms.
  • Knowledge of Cummins INSITE software and engine ECM diagnostics (preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Willingness to work in field locations, depots, or on moving trains (if required).

Job Summary: 

The Offshore Cummins Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Cummins diesel and gas-powered generator sets and engines used in offshore operations. The role ensures optimal engine performance, reliability, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on Cummins engines and generator sets.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults.
  • Carry out engine overhauls and component replacements as per Cummins service manuals.
  • Maintain accurate service records and submit detailed technical reports.
  • Monitor engine performance and provide technical support during operations.
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with offshore safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Liaise with onshore engineering teams and Cummins technical support when needed.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for recurring failures and suggest improvement plans.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical consumables.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience working with Cummins engines (QSK, KTA, QSM series preferred).
  • Offshore experience with valid BOSIET/FOET and HUET certifications.
  • Familiarity with electronic diagnostics tools like INSITE, QuickServe, etc.
  • Understanding of offshore safety protocols (Permit to Work, JSA, Risk Assessment).
  • Knowledge of engine control systems, emissions control, and marine standards is a plus.
